Welcome to Late Night Roundup, where we review the previous night’s comedy highlights.
Approval Rating Dip
A recent Economist/YouGov poll indicates that President Trump has reached his lowest approval rating yet, sitting at 34 percent.
Thursday night, while most other hosts were on hiatus, Jimmy Kimmel remarked on Jimmy Kimmel Live that these poll results were “bad news for Donald Trump.”
“He is now down to 34 percent. He has the same approval rating as ‘Paul Blart: Mall Cop.’ The Blart of the Deal.” — Jimmy Kimmel
Kimmel joked that Trump’s approval numbers have “sunk to an all-time low.”
“Not only is Trump at his lowest point, he’s also two points behind JD Vance. I don’t have a joke for that. I just want to make sure he knows, he’s two points behind JD Vance.” — Jimmy Kimmel
When questioned about these figures, a White House spokesperson pointed to the November 2024 election as the ultimate poll where Trump was elected by almost 80 million Americans. However, Kimmel noted that it’s now May 2026, and sentiments have clearly shifted.
“The ultimate poll was Nov. 5, 2024, when nearly 80 million Americans overwhelmingly elected President Trump to deliver on his popular and common-sense agenda. OK, yeah. But now it’s May of 2026, and everybody hates him, so.” — Jimmy Kimmel
New Proposals
The Treasury Department has suggested printing a $250 bill featuring President Trump’s likeness to commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary.
“There he is, the least-popular bill since Cosby.” — Jimmy Kimmel
Kimmel further quipped about the cost of gas.
“And, really, what better way to pay for a single tank of gas than with a bill featuring the head of the man who made it cost that much?” — Jimmy Kimmel
