Jill Biden, former first lady, reiterated concerns about her husband, Joe Biden, potentially being drugged before the 2024 debate. During a podcast with Jamie Kern Lima, she was questioned if doctors ruled out a stroke that night.
“They did,” Jill responded. “While writing my book, I reflected but didn’t ask, ‘Did Joe have a stroke?’ I just wanted to know if he was okay.”
Lima asked Jill about her instincts, and Jill admitted she was unsure. She noted Joe had been traveling and felt tired. She hadn’t seen him in the days leading up to the debate, observing him about an hour before the event.
“There’s no way anyone could have laced his drink?” Lima asked.
“Who knows?” Jill answered.
The incident stirred controversy, with the debate viewed as a key moment in the 2024 election. Joe Biden showed unusual behavior, causing concern among his supporters. Jill Biden’s memoir, “View from the East Wing,” covers this moment. She revealed fearing Joe might have had a stroke, finding the situation frightening.
Doctors assured the Bidens that Joe was fine that night. Jill described the incident as an anomaly.
Some Democrats criticized Jill’s book tour and revisiting 2024, considering it a challenging period after Kamala Harris lost to Trump. Former Biden spokesperson Andrew Bates remarked on the public nature of Jill’s book, to which she replied, “Call me up and say it to my face, buddy.”
Matt Dallek, a George Washington University professor, noted the memoir tour’s limited impact on future elections. However, he added that the Democratic Party associates the Bidens with past challenges and failures.
Former President Joe Biden is expected to release his book on his presidency after the midterms. Hanna Panreck, an associate editor at Fox News, reported on these developments.
