Washington Commanders Linebacker Leo Chenal Suffers Neck Injury

Washington Commanders linebacker Leo Chenal will miss Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks due to a neck injury sustained during the match. Despite being carted off the field, Chenal showed encouraging signs by moving his extremities as he left.

The injury occurred in the second quarter while Chenal was tackling Seahawks running back Emanuel Wilson. Unfortunately, Chenal led with his head and tucked it down, leading to the neck’s compression. After the tackle, Chenal remained motionless on the ground for a short period.

Teammates quickly gathered around Chenal as medical personnel attended to him on the field. He was placed on a spine board before being escorted off.

“Coach Dan Quinn was shown on the FOX broadcast looking skyward,” noted one observer, describing the tense moment.

While the Commanders later confirmed that Chenal would not return for this game, the team also faces ongoing challenges. Quarterback Jaylen Daniels had suffered a significant elbow injury just the previous week. Like Chenal’s situation, Daniels’s injury saw teammates gather as medical staff attended to him.

Despite these setbacks, the Commanders are showing resilience. They led the defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks 24-10 into the second half, with Marcus Mariota stepping in for Daniels, notably throwing three touchdown passes.

Both Chenal and Daniels’s incidents serve as reminders of the physical risks inherent in the sport. Still, the Commanders continue to strive forward, determined to overcome these challenges.
