Workout with the New York Jets
Justin Tucker was one of three kickers trying out for the New York Jets on Wednesday, joined by Michael Badgley and Joshua Karty. This is according to The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero. Tucker is seen as the greatest kicker in NFL history but has been inactive since the 2024 season.
Controversy Surrounding Tucker
Last season, Tucker missed out on signing with any team following a 10-game suspension due to a violation of the NFL’s personal conduct policy. In January 2025, The Baltimore Banner reported accusations from 16 female massage therapists who claimed Tucker engaged in sexual misconduct and inappropriate behavior between 2012 and 2016 at various spas in Baltimore.
Following the allegations, the Baltimore Ravens released Tucker in May 2025, ending his 13-year tenure with the franchise. Despite the lack of criminal charges or civil lawsuits, Tucker has strongly denied any wrongdoing. He, his wife Amanda, and his legal team spoke exclusively to OutKick, providing information they believed questioned the validity of the accusations.
For instance, Tucker’s legal team presented an email from one accuser, describing her experience working with Tucker as a pleasure when he canceled his spa membership in 2016. This evidence alone does not prove Tucker’s innocence.
Comparison with Deshaun Watson
The allegations against Tucker drew parallels to those against Deshaun Watson, where multiple massage therapists accused Watson of misconduct. Watson faced numerous civil lawsuits and served an 11-game suspension in 2022. Notwithstanding, Watson signed a five-year, $230 million fully guaranteed contract with the Cleveland Browns, although his performance has since declined.
Conversely, the Ravens released Tucker following the accusations. Tucker, nearly 37 and coming off his worst season with a 73.3% field-goal success rate, is now facing an uncertain NFL future.
Evaluations and Team Decisions
Despite being potentially better than several current NFL kickers, teams are considering Tucker’s potential baggage against his performance. He tried out for the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts but was not signed by either. Following his workout with the Jets, Tucker did not provide a comment to OutKick, and updates may follow upon response.
