Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce is gearing up for another season, despite retirement speculations. Many, including close friend Cris Carter, believe this might be his last. Carter shared a photo with Kelce, captioned, “Know the goat is preparing for THE LAST DANCE. Next stop Canton/HOF.” The photo showed Kelce at a workout with Carter and veteran trainers Andrew Spruill and Johnny Olsen.
Kelce went through a long decision-making process before signing a contract. The deal is effectively three years at $57.735 million, though it includes options for annual assessment. Primarily, his decision hinged on his health and physical readiness. On “New Heights,” Kelce mentioned, “If my body can heal up, rest up and I can feel confident that I can go out there and give it another 18-20/21 week run, I think I would do it in a heartbeat.” He emphasized the importance of assessing his body’s response after each game.
The tight end’s popularity has surged, partly due to his relationship with megastar Taylor Swift, making him a major attraction for the NFL. His return surprised some who expected him to retire, but Kelce signed a one-year deal, aiming to end his career positively.
Despite a challenging season in 2025, marked by Patrick Mahomes’ injury, Kelce managed 851 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Although he may lack his former explosiveness, his reliable hands and chemistry with Mahomes make him a valuable asset for the Chiefs. His dedication to the game remains strong, despite navigating the complexities of potential retirement.
