Rescue Operations for MH-60S Helicopter Crew in Arabian Sea

On Wednesday morning, a U.S. Naval Forces Central Command reported the rescue of three crew members from an MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter after it made an emergency water landing in the Arabian Sea. The search for the fourth crew member is ongoing.

The incident, which occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. Eastern Time (11 a.m. local time), did not involve enemy action, as per the military’s report. The helicopter, associated with the USS George H.W. Bush, was not shot down.

“Three of the helicopter’s four crew members have been recovered and are stabilized aboard the USS George H.W. Bush,” the command stated. Meanwhile, U.S. Navy resources in the region are actively searching for the missing crew member.

The USS George H.W. Bush has been stationed in the Middle East since late April and remains one of two aircraft carriers in the area. Although the U.S. has lifted its blockade on vessels moving through the Strait of Hormuz, a substantial military force remains present.

As of mid-May, during Operation Epic Fury, the U.S. had lost 42 aircraft, both fixed-wing and rotor. This figure does not include the later incident in early June when an Iranian drone downed a U.S. Apache helicopter. The Apache’s crew was successfully rescued, leading to U.S. self-defense actions against Iran.
