President Trump Makes Major Campaign Contribution to Texas Senate Candidate Ken Paxton

President Trump has pledged significant financial support to Texas Senate candidate Ken Paxton. The president has contributed $10 million from his MAGA Inc. super PAC to aid Paxton, the state’s current attorney general, in his close contest against Democrat James Talarico.

The donation is strategically allocated. $5 million will fund negative advertisements aimed at Talarico, while the remaining $5 million will promote Paxton positively. Both contributions are directed to Del Ray Media Inc. for television and digital advertising, as revealed in a Federal Election Commission filing.

MAGA Inc., holding $400 million, had not previously made any substantial donations this midterm cycle. A nonprofit affiliated with Trump’s super PAC, Securing American Greatness, has launched its first nationwide advertisement focusing on the president, igniting concern among congressional candidates. Despite not being on the ballot, the emphasis remains on Trump’s promotional efforts.

Ken Paxton, who accompanied President Trump at the “Save America” rally in Robstown, Texas, maintains solid support among Republicans. According to The Texas Politics Project, Paxton had a 61% approval rate among Republicans in August. Although Paxton faced impeachment in 2023 due to allegations including bribery, he remains favored by Republican voters despite personal controversies.

Talarico, challenging Paxton in this competitive race, has faced harsh criticism from President Trump recently, including being labeled with a derogatory nickname. Talarico countered by marketing merchandise featuring the nickname.

The significance of these donations extends beyond Texas. MAGA Inc. made a prior donation in South Carolina, contributing $827,000 to Sen. Darline Graham’s campaign, following the death of her brother Lindsey Graham, whose Senate seat she seeks to hold.

President Trump encourages voters to act as if he is present on the ballot, stressing the importance of supporting Republican candidates in upcoming elections.
