Manning Sparks Texas Victory Against UTSA Despite Struggles

Arch Manning provided an early boost for the Texas Longhorns with two touchdown passes, lifting the team to a 30-6 victory over UTSA in Austin. Despite a strong start, Manning faced challenges throughout the game, finishing with 164 passing yards and completing 17 of 33 passes.

Texas improved to a 3-0 record with this win, and the team’s next challenge will be against Tennessee in the Southeastern Conference opener. The Volunteers, ranked 15th, recently secured a win over Kennesaw State with a score of 42-9, matching Texas’ unbeaten record.

Cam Coleman, a wide receiver for Texas, scored his first touchdown following Rasheem Biles’ interception on the opening play. His second touchdown, a remarkable catch, increased Texas’ lead to 17-3 in the second quarter.

Alongside Manning, running back Derrek Cooper contributed with his first career touchdown, extending Texas’ lead in the second half. Texas kicker Gianni Spetic added three field goals, allowing Texas to enter the fourth quarter with a comfortable 23-6 lead.

Manning faced difficulties completing passes and received several hard tackles, including a jolting hit that dislodged his helmet in the second quarter. Nonetheless, the Texas defense remained steadfast, allowing only 143 total yards and preventing UTSA from scoring any touchdowns.
