Leon Slater wowed fans during the Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) Lockdown pay-per-view on Sunday. The event was pivotal for Slater, who faced Cedric Alexander to vie for the TNA X Division Championship, even risking his historic place in TNA should he lose.
Every match on the night’s main card unfolded within a steel cage, providing a unique battleground that Slater utilized expertly. At a thrilling moment, he scaled the cage’s midpoint and executed a flying elbow drop. Despite Alexander’s efforts to stifle Slater’s moves, the British wrestler proved unstoppable.
Slater applied Alexander’s signature move, the Lumbar Check, landing it on him thrice before delivering a 450 swanton from the top rope. This combination secured the pin, crowning him the X Division champion once more, celebrating emotionally in the ring.
Later in the evening, Slater’s title reign abruptly shifted course. After Nic and Ryan Nemeth’s victory over The Hardys for the TNA World Tag Team Championship, Slater seized the moment. Microphone in hand, he announced his decision to invoke Option C, challenging Nic Nemeth for the TNA World Championship in exchange for relinquishing his newly acquired X Division title.
Option C allows the current X Division titleholder to trade the belt for a world title shot, setting the stage for Slater to face Nemeth at TNA’s Bound For Glory on October 11 in Tampa, Florida.
