Justin Baldoni Addresses Controversy Over ‘It Ends With Us’

Justin Baldoni spoke about the disputes surrounding the movie “It Ends With Us” in a recent Instagram video with his wife, Emily. In the video, they expressed that maintaining gratitude helped them endure the legal challenges.

The controversy began a year and a half ago when Blake Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment during the film’s production. Baldoni directed and starred in the film. She also claimed his company, Wayfarer Studios, retaliated after misconduct complaints. Baldoni firmly denied these accusations.

This year, U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman dismissed many of Lively’s claims, including harassment and defamation, citing her status as an independent contractor. However, claims like breach of contract and retaliation remained. Both parties settled in May before a trial.

The video did not refer directly to Lively or the film, focusing instead on how the dispute affected their lives. Baldoni mentioned enduring painful allegations, wanting the justice system to do its work without adding more noise. Emily Baldoni emphasized gratitude but noted it didn’t erase the injustice or pain experienced.

In December 2024, Lively made her allegations public, leading to a federal lawsuit. The case revealed private texts and inside studio discussions. Baldoni, known for “Jane the Virgin,” stepped back from public life, relocating to Nashville. He hasn’t had acting or directing projects since.

In January 2025, Baldoni countersued Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, alleging defamation. His lawsuit was dismissed, but Lively is permitted to seek financial damages under a California law protecting those reporting sexual misconduct. Her team claims they are owed over $7 million in legal fees and expenses.

The Baldonis expressed deep gratitude to their supporters in their video. Justin Baldoni remarked that true love emerges when everything is stripped away, while Emily hinted at focusing on healing and family.
