Joan Collins, renowned for her role in “Dynasty,” is busy at 93, starring in “My Duchess.” At the Variety’s Women of Power event, she shared her thoughts on aging. “I love life,” she stated. Each day, she appreciates simple pleasures like breathing, resting well, staying hydrated, and self-care.
Collins finds confidence in old films, especially enjoying works by Bette Davis, Jack Nicholson, and Sarah Jessica Parker from the ‘80s and ‘90s. Her love for cinema helps boost her morale when needed.
The actress, who celebrated her newest film at Cannes, also attended various public engagements, sharing her positive outlook.
Collins remains active; she frequents the gym for basic Pilates exercises with her trainer. Walking isn’t her favorite; she prefers light activity like tending to flowers at home. “It sounds ridiculous,” she admitted, yet she stands by its truth.
Genetics play a part in her well-being. Her father lived to 87, remarkable for those born in 1903. Her mother cared for her and her sister with supplements when few did.
Much of her youthful spirit comes from her relationship with husband Percy Gibson, 32 years her junior. Married in 2002, their connection began as good friends. “We were on the same wavelength,” she highlighted. Collins noted many past partners were neurotic or unbalanced, contrasting with Gibson’s grounded nature. They view their age gap as “just a number,” proving love is ageless.
Collins values life’s preciousness. In her memoir, “Behind the Shoulder Pads,” she described Gibson’s disregard for their age difference, highlighting her enduring drive and passion. “Percy admits that I can wear him out,” she wrote, showcasing her boundless energy.
