Cameron Brink, chosen by the Los Angeles Sparks with the second overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, has faced significant hurdles in her professional journey. Since her selection, the 24-year-old has experienced several setbacks.
Brink’s initial season came to an abrupt end due to an ACL tear after participating in just 14 games. This injury also impacted her 2025 season, limiting her play. Her return in July 2025 allowed her to be part of only 19 games.
As Brink entered her third season with full health, expectations were high for her to make substantial progress. Yet, another unexpected challenge emerged during the Sparks’ defeat against the Golden State Valkyries in the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Cameron Brink started limping toward the bench before taking a seat on the floor before she got there,” ESPN’s Kendra Andrews reported from the game. “Her teammates are now helping her up over to a seat. Not quite sure what happened. She stood in the corner for a bit and is now walking off of the court under her own power.
Following this incident, Sparks’ head coach Lynne Roberts indicated that Brink was undergoing evaluation. Subsequently, Sparks beat reporter John W. Davis announced that Brink will not participate in the team’s upcoming game against the Minnesota Lynx due to a left ankle injury.
Brink’s performance this season includes averages of 9.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and 1.1 assists over 14 games for the 7-7 Sparks. Her contributions have been valuable, and there is hope that her absence from play due to this recent injury will be brief.
