Brush Fire in La Habra Heights Sparks Evacuations

A brush fire erupted in the hills near La Habra Heights, destroying one structure and putting others at risk. Evacuations have been initiated in response. The Palos fire ignited shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Las Palomas Drive in Whittier, as reported by the Los Angeles County Fire Department. By 4 p.m., the fire had expanded to around 12 acres, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

Authorities have issued an evacuation warning for nearby neighborhoods. The affected area includes multiple streets in La Habra Heights, as firefighters work to control the fire. Broadcast footage showed at least one structure engulfed in flames. The specific area under the evacuation warning is delineated by Puenta del Este Drive and Hacienda Road to the east, Casalero Drive, Lupin Hill Road, and Las Palomas Drive to the west, Windrush and Gun Tree drives to the north, and Encanada Drive to the south. This area includes parts of the Puente Hills Preserve, the Hsi Lai Temple to the east, and businesses near Colima Road and South Hacienda Boulevard.

The public is advised to stay informed and follow instructions from local authorities for their safety.
