Will Ospreay’s Journey to AEW World Championship and Upcoming Challenges

Will Ospreay quickly discovered his challenger for his first title defense as AEW World Champion. Starting AEW ‘Dynamite’ with a forceful promo, he praised Kenny Omega as the best wrestler in the world for the past decade. Ospreay’s momentous win at All In came on August 30, 2026.

‘I think about the people that have held this belt before, Chris Jericho, Hangman Page, Jon Moxley, Kenny Omega, Bryan Danielson, Swerve Strickland… and I have to pinch myself a little bit,’ Ospreay expressed. ‘I worked hard for this, mate. All my idols, they’re now my rivals.’

Ospreay spoke candidly about his struggles with confidence, yet holding the championship belt instilled a new belief in himself. Declaring himself the AEW Champion, he challenged anyone desiring the title to endure his path.

In a subsequent match, Ospreay’s team, including Andrade El Idolo and others, faced opponents like Gabe Kidd and Ricochet. Despite a victory, a post-match assault occurred. Kidd attempted to strike Ospreay with a chair, but Jon Moxley intervened. Moxley, associated with The Death Riders, showed allegiance to Ospreay, furthering past assistance during Ospreay’s recovery from a neck injury.

After returning the world title to Ospreay, Moxley announced their upcoming championship clash at All Out on September 26. Andrade, with a title shot secured through victory in the Casino Gauntlet match, remains a future contender.

Ospreay and Moxley’s match promises excitement for fans as September comes to a close.
