Riot Fest has announced a delay in the start of its third day of events, pushing back openings until 2 p.m. on Sunday. This change comes after heavy rains overnight, requiring efforts to address wet conditions at the park grounds.
The festival team shared the news on social media, noting that gate openings are expected at 2 p.m. as they work to mitigate the effects of the rain. However, updates to the day’s schedule remain pending, posing uncertainties for attendees.
Saturday’s activities were similarly affected when earlier adverse weather resulted in an early closure. Announced mid-afternoon, several performances were either cut short or canceled, with Tool stepping in for its headlining performance at 6 p.m. just before the festival closed at 7 p.m.
Weather forecasts by the National Weather Service indicate continued rain in Chicago throughout the day, with a chance of precipitation extending until 7 p.m.
Despite these challenges, Riot Fest successfully opened with a mild Day 1. Notably, the exception to its calm start was a performance by punk legend Iggy Pop.
Earlier reports highlighted artistic encounters at Riot Fest, including reviews of Phoebe Bridgers’ arena concerts, known for their distinct silences, as well as captured moments from Riot Fest at Douglass Park in photos from September 2026.
