U.S. Military Involvement Under President Trump

The United States has been engaged in numerous military activities worldwide since President Trump resumed office. During his first term, Trump criticized the prolonged conflicts initiated by previous administrations, pledging to avoid long-lasting military engagements. In a 2019 State of the Union address, he stated, “Great nations do not fight endless wars.” While campaigning for a second term, Trump branded himself as “the candidate of peace.”

Yet, the situation has evolved differently. Since his return, the U.S. has conducted nearly a dozen operations globally, including actions against Iran and a raid that led to the capture of Venezuela’s leader. Let’s examine some of these operations.

February 2025: Somalia

On February 1, 2025, shortly after President Trump’s inauguration, he authorized airstrikes in northern Somalia. This targeted Islamic State members and was seen as the start of intensified counterterrorism actions in the Horn of Africa. The Trump administration viewed these operations as essential in combating the increasing threat from jihadist groups.
