President Donald Trump has unveiled plans for a new construction project in Washington, D.C. The initiative involves the creation of a pedestrian bridge connecting the National Mall to the Potomac River. This development aims to enhance accessibility and provide a direct route for pedestrians to enjoy more of the city’s scenic views.
The proposed bridge will be positioned alongside the Lincoln Memorial, offering a pathway over two heavily trafficked roads. This project reflects an early-20th-century plan to link the National Mall with the waterfront area.
Interior Secretary Doug Burgum collaborated with President Trump in announcing this initiative from the Oval Office. The newly proposed bridge aligns with previous efforts to update Washington’s iconic sites. Recently, the Reflecting Pool at the Lincoln Memorial received a renovation, showcasing a commitment to preserving and improving historic landmarks.
