President Trump attended the final day of the Presidents Cup at Medinah Country Club, serving as the honorary chairman. His visit attracted both supporters and protesters in the Chicagoland area.
Before the event commenced, Trump arrived with a flyover above the club. He spoke to reporters briefly at O’Hare Airport prior to his trip to the tournament. Outside the country club, groups opposing and supporting the president engaged in dueling protests.

Local police maintained a presence and managed tensions as participants moved around. Trump’s location inside was concentrated on the first tee box, which focused security.
SWAT officers and security systems were in place throughout the course. Fans underwent TSA-style screenings to enter the venue. Visitors like Carolyn Friedrichs expressed surprise at the level of security.
In front of thousands, Trump shared brief remarks on the first tee box, emphasizing the country’s positive state and refraining from lengthy speeches. He greeted each player personally and watched the tee-offs.
A bulletproof suite was prepared for the president, but he chose not to use it. Bruce Asmussen, a tournament attendee, noted the electric atmosphere and humorously observed that people were calling Trump a king.
This marked Trump’s first public appearance in Chicago since the 2024 election. The meticulously planned visit concluded with a change in his itinerary, staying for the closing ceremonies of the tournament. Air Force One was scheduled to depart from O’Hare Airport later in the evening.
