Trump’s Decline in Approval Among Women on Economic Issues

A CBS News Battleground Tracker poll reveals President Donald Trump’s approval rating regarding the economy among women has dropped to its lowest point. Over a quarter of women approve of his economic management, creating concerns for the upcoming midterm elections.

The poll, conducted September 8-11 with 2,460 U.S. adults, highlights the current political landscape as Trump and the Republican party aim to maintain their congressional majority. Trump has frequently cited his economic policies as beneficial for Americans. However, the diminishing support among women, a demographic that leans Democratic, indicates potential challenges.

A Pew Research Center survey shows that 52% of women tend to support the Democratic Party, compared to 38% who support Republicans. This shift in economic approval may impact Republican chances in the upcoming House and Senate races, with all 435 House seats and 33 Senate seats being contested.

Key Findings on Economic Approval

The CBS survey highlights that only 27% of female respondents approve of Trump’s economic handling, a five-point drop since July. Inflation management approval is even lower at 22%. Traditionally, Trump’s economic policies have been his strength, making the current numbers concerning.

Overall voter pessimism and concerns about affordability issues are increasing amid the background of international conflicts. Financial Times and Focaldata polls reflect an overall economic approval rating for Trump at a record low of 33%, indicating a drop over recent months.

Women’s overall approval of Trump’s job performance is at 33%, with a 67% disapproval rate, continuing a decline from July when approval stood at 36%.

Approval Ratings Analysis

CNN’s Poll of Polls, taken on September 1, averaged Trump’s approval at 35%, and disapproval at 63%. This combines six national surveys conducted from late July to August end. Meanwhile, RealClearPolling shows a slightly higher approval average at 39.5% for early September. Despite different sources, both depict Trump as having a challenging path ahead with the midterms approaching.

White House’s Stance on Approval Ratings

The White House has downplayed Trump’s low approval ratings in the past. Spokesperson Davis Ingle pointed out that the millions who voted for Trump endorsed his agenda. He praised Trump’s efforts in job creation, inflation management, and housing affordability, stating no other President has achieved more for the American people.
