Trump’s Approval Rating Among Hispanic Americans Rises to 37 Percent

President Donald Trump’s approval rating with Hispanic Americans has reached 37 percent. This marks an improvement observed in a recent poll conducted by The Economist/YouGov. This figure indicates Trump’s highest approval within this group since the previous month, where his approval was at 40 percent.

Latino voters played a crucial role in Trump’s 2024 election victory. Although Democrats still secured the majority of Hispanic votes nationwide, Trump gained significant popularity with this demographic compared to past Republican candidates. Both parties are closely monitoring Trump’s performance with Hispanic Americans, as they were vital to his return to office. The latest poll suggests some regained support in this crucial constituency.

Poll Insights

The Economist/YouGov poll shows Trump’s approval with Hispanics at 37 percent against a 59 percent disapproval rate. His overall approval stands at 39 percent, with 56 percent disapproving. Conducted between June 13 and June 15, the poll surveyed 1,549 U.S. adults and has a margin of error of 3.5 percent.

Recent polling shows increased approval ratings. Last week’s survey revealed a 31 percent approval versus 62 percent disapproval among Hispanics. The preceding week indicated a 33 percent approval with a 67 percent disapproval. A survey in late May recorded a 23 percent approval and a 66 percent disapproval.

White House Spokeswoman Allison Schuster highlighted this progress, stating, “President Trump was honored to receive a record level of support from Hispanic Americans contributing to his 2024 election victory.” She cited economic achievements like substantial middle-class tax cuts and addressing inflation, arguing these policies provided relief for Hispanic Americans suffering under previous administrations.

Shifts Over Time

Previous polling during Trump’s second term revealed declining support among Hispanics due to stringent immigration policies and economic uncertainties. Florida State University professor Andrew Ballard noted that while Hispanic voters are important to Trump’s electoral success, white voters remain the most crucial demographic for Republican strategies.
