Trump and Cohen Reflect on Media and Past Conflicts

In a surprising turn of events, former President Donald Trump engaged in an unexpected interview with Michael Cohen, his former personal lawyer. The dialogue marked the first public interaction between the two in nearly ten years, with Cohen sharing the conversation on his radio show Thursday.

Their discussion revisited a memorable moment from 2016 involving a CNN interview. Cohen recalled questioning Trump’s poll standings during his talk with CNN’s Brianna Keilar, leading to the viral exchange ‘says who.’ Cohen highlighted how this moment became a meme worldwide.

Trump responded by reflecting on how the media allegedly weaponized Cohen against him. ‘Like few have been, they weaponized you,’ Trump stated. Trump acknowledged Cohen’s decision to recant his statements, noting it as significant.

Trump expressed to Cohen the morning after that interview, ‘F— them. You’re stronger than them. We’ve got this.’

The interview continued with mutual criticisms of the mainstream media, where Trump accused various outlets, including CNN and The New York Times, of biased polling and reporting. ‘The polls are crooked,’ he claimed, adding that many reporters lack honesty.

However, Trump also differentiated between journalists, acknowledging the presence of skilled and ethical professionals. ‘You do have great journalists,’ he said, though he refrained from naming them.

Fox News Digital attempted to obtain comments from CNN, MS NOW, and The New York Times regarding the interview but received no immediate response.

Cohen revealed that the complete discussion lasted 40 minutes, to be aired in two parts on his show, with the second segment scheduled for Sunday. This conversation also echoes Cohen’s account in a Substack post about their first public exchange in a decade.
