Authorities recovered a body from the Chain O’ Lakes following the disappearance of a teenage boy on Monday evening. Reports indicate that the incident involved a 15-year-old swimmer who went missing around 6 p.m. near Fox Lake.
Friends attempted to find the boy but were unable to do so, prompting them to contact authorities. Multiple agencies responded to the call, including the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Fox Lake Fire Protection District, and Illinois Conservation Police.
According to a spokesman for the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the boy was not wearing a flotation device when he either jumped or fell into the lake from a boat. After roughly two hours from the initial report, divers and an underwater drone located a body believed to be the missing teenager in Pistakee Lake.
