Unfortunately, we witnessed the event. It has been an extremely sad and terrible afternoon for all involved. He did not survive.

Nearby hikers, including Rebecca Rees, witnessed the incident. She shared her account on Facebook. A bystander named Robert attempted to aid the climber, risking his own safety.

Rees commended the rescue team’s swift response, with both helicopter and ground crews reaching the peak area, despite its remoteness, within two hours. Their efforts were notable during a holiday weekend.

Mountain Rescue Aspen used off-highway vehicles and helicopters to access the location. A helicopter first identified the fallen climber, then returned to gather more personnel for the recovery.
