Surveillance Video Reveals Details of Idaho Shooting

Police have released surveillance footage capturing the chilling events of a deadly shooting that occurred last weekend at an In-N-Out restaurant in Twin Falls, Idaho. The incident resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including the gunman, Chad Williams, who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to authorities.

During a news conference on Friday, Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks stated that investigators have yet to determine a motive for the tragedy. The footage shows the shooting commenced at the drive-thru, where the shooter, from his car, fired through the payment window. This gunfire hit Ashley Garibay, a 23-year-old from Stockton, California, who later succumbed to her injuries at a hospital.

Subsequently, the gunman parked in the drive-thru lane, exited his vehicle, and fatally shot 59-year-old Christopher Claunch of Hagerman, Idaho, who was in his vehicle. In an attempt to stop the gunman, Austin James, a former Idaho State Police trooper and Twin Falls officer, approached but was shot and forced to retreat due to his injuries.

The gunman proceeded to the payment window again and fired additional shots into the restaurant. His handgun jammed, and he returned to his vehicle to retrieve a rifle. An off-duty state police trooper inside then exchanged gunfire with the shooter.

Continuing his assault, the gunman moved toward a street, opening fire on vehicles stopped at a red light and injuring three individuals. He then approached a Tesla charging station in a nearby parking lot, shooting at individuals in two Teslas. Among those shot was Dale Schultz, a 66-year-old from Salt Lake City, who died from his injuries.

At the Twin Falls Visitor Center, the gunman encountered workers evacuating the area. One worker engaged him in conversation, enabling others to escape. Police Chief Hicks commended this individual’s bravery for allowing others to get to safety.

Braxton Stuebe, an employee at a nearby Dick’s Sporting Goods store, recounted a close encounter with the gunman. Stuebe described facing the shooter, who aimed a gun at him. He attempted to de-escalate the situation by expressing he had a family and pleading with the gunman, who initially told him to leave. The shooter then fired near him, but Stuebe was unharmed.
