If you notice smoke near the Obama Presidential Center on Chicago’s South Side this Monday and Tuesday, there’s no cause for alarm. The Chicago Alerts social media account has informed residents of smoke effects between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on both days. These effects are related to filming for an episode of NBC’s “Chicago Fire.”
The filming takes place on Dorchester Avenue between 55th Place and 56th Street. A simulated rescue scene will involve heavy plumes of special effects smoke on the rooftop and upper floors of an apartment building on S. Dorchester. While the smoke will be visible in nearby areas, it dissipates quickly.
The Chicago Film Office confirmed this information. The episode is part of “Chicago Fire’s” 15th season, airing starting October 7 on NBC.
