Senator Curtis Calls for Probe into Donald Trump Jr.’s Business Dealings

A Senate Republican is targeting corruption by calling for an investigation into Donald Trump Jr. Senator John Curtis from Utah is urging the Senate Judiciary Committee, led by Senator Chuck Grassley, to look into Trump Jr. and Hunter Biden. Curtis wants both individuals subpoenaed to testify regarding their alleged foreign business dealings.

Curtis expressed his concerns in a letter to Grassley. He emphasized that serious issues have arisen about presidential family members leveraging the influence of their political ties to enhance business ventures.

“A toaster is a wedding gift,” Curtis stated on X. “A private-island party funded by a Putin-connected oligarch is something different. Republicans have been relentless in their investigations of Hunter Biden. We should not stop now. ‘Trust us’ wasn’t convincing then, nor is it now.”

The controversy began with allegations about Hunter Biden using former President Joe Biden as a means of access. Similar concerns have arisen around Trump Jr., especially following his lavish wedding celebration on a private island reportedly provided by a Russian oligarch.

Curtis highlighted multiple concerns in his communication, including Trump Jr.’s promotion of family-endorsed cryptocurrency ventures and ongoing international real estate dealings. Some of these activities include meeting directly with foreign leaders and investing in defense contracting.

The wedding celebration in May, reported by ProPublica, was bankrolled by a Russian oligarch tied to Russian President Vladimir Putin. The oligarch also has connections to the controversial International Boxing Association, funded partially by the Russian government-owned Gazprom.

Trump Jr. is noted for his substantial role in augmenting his father’s wealth. According to presidential financial disclosure forms reviewed by Fox News Digital, the president’s income surged by 250% from 2024 to 2025, largely due to holdings in crypto handled by his sons.

Curtis pointed out that almost 75% of Americans perceive the federal government as corrupt. He stressed that tackling corruption should transcend party lines.

“The nation should not accept differing standards for the families of Republican and Democratic presidents,” Curtis argued. “Congressional oversight should persist regardless of which party controls the White House.”

While Republicans have scrutinized Hunter Biden’s business activities to assess any involvement from Joe Biden, Curtis acknowledged Biden’s denial of presidential involvement in business dealings. Despite the denials, Curtis pointed out the potential advantages Biden’s position provided.

A similar case can be made for Trump Jr. According to Curtis, these matters for concern include the potential of foreign access to the president’s family influencing expectations of favorable treatment. Such situations might pose risks to national security.

As of publication, Fox News Digital had not received a response from the Trump Organization, White House, or Hunter Biden.
