Former FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino has criticized leading Democrats, accusing them of prioritizing power over principles. He argued that many Democrats only turned on Senate candidate Graham Platner after determining he could no longer win.

Speaking on “The Ingraham Angle,” Bongino stated, “There were no principles involved here at all.” He expressed skepticism about their motivations, suggesting the left focuses on opposing those who challenge their agenda.

Platner’s support waned after allegations arose.

Leading figures like New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Rep. Ro Khanna from California, and Senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren have withdrawn their support or asked Platner to quit the race after a rape allegation surfaced. Shortly after, a second claim emerged in a Washington Post report, accusing Platner of ignoring an ex-girlfriend’s request to use protection.

The allegations have jeopardized his campaign to unseat incumbent Senator Susan Collins. Platner’s campaign has refuted both allegations, labeling the second accusation as “categorically false and politically motivated.” Requests for comments from Platner’s team to Fox News Digital went unanswered.

Bongino and other Republicans have criticized Democrats over their shift in stance on Platner. “This is not about any principle whatsoever,” Bongino commented. He emphasized that the issue revolves around power dynamics, stating, “Platner was an acquisition tool for more power for this collectivist communist left. That is it.”
