A seaplane carrying 11 individuals crashed off the coast of Washington state on Thursday, resulting in several injuries, including one critical condition, according to authorities. The incident occurred when the Kenmore Air seaplane made an emergency landing and subsequently caught fire near Sucia Island within the San Juan Islands at approximately 5:30 p.m., as reported by the U.S. Coast Guard to CNN.

According to the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, the pilot and all 10 passengers were rescued from the water. The sheriff’s office stated, “There are multiple patients with injuries ranging from head injuries to broken bones and lacerations, with 1 patient in critical condition and no reports of fatalities at this time.”

Kenmore Air confirmed that the de Havilland DHC-3 Otter aircraft had crashed about 45 minutes after departing from Lake Union in Seattle. In response to the accident, the airline has cancelled all flights scheduled for Friday.

Kenmore Air CEO David Gudgel expressed relief that everyone aboard was accounted for and stated that the airline’s immediate focus is on ensuring the well-being of the passengers and pilot. “We extend our sincere thanks to the United States Coast Guard, local emergency responders, and everyone assisting in the response. Kenmore Air is fully cooperating with the investigating authorities, and we will continue providing verified information as it becomes available,” he stated.
