Seahawks Triumph Over Patriots with Late-Game Rally

In a challenging matchup, the Seattle Seahawks overcame the New England Patriots and secured a win with a final score of 13-10. During the third quarter, prospects seemed grim for the Seahawks as the Patriots led the game 10-0.

Seahawks’ starting quarterback Sam Darnold exited early in the game after sustaining a hip injury on the team’s initial drive. Drew Lock, the backup quarterback, struggled initially, with his first four drives resulting in punts. However, Lock found his footing in the Seahawks’ final possession of the third quarter, orchestrating a 31-yard drive that concluded with a field goal, placing the Seahawks on the scoreboard.

In the fourth quarter, Lock proved crucial for the team. He connected a 45-yard touchdown pass to receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba and later led the Seahawks to another field goal, securing a 13-10 lead with 5:50 left on the clock. The win was solidified by a third interception thrown by Patriots quarterback Drake Maye in the final quarter.

“I know what kind of defense we have,” Lock said on NBC after the game. “I know the playmakers that we have on this side of the ball, on the opposite side of the ball. If I take care of the football, get it in their hands, don’t turn it over, win the turnover battle, by the end of the game, I’d like to think we’d have a pretty good shot at winning. Sure enough, 13-10.”

Lock completed the game with 16 of 22 passes for 187 yards and one touchdown, adding another 13 yards through rushing. His error-free performance played a vital role in the Seahawks’ successful comeback.

Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald revealed that a fracture was ruled out for Darnold, indicating he might not be out for an extended period, though further tests are needed. For more coverage on the Seahawks and the NFL, visit Newsweek Sports.
