Renowned actor Robert De Niro shared insights about his friendship with pop sensation Ariana Grande, revealing an intriguing detail about his experiences related to her work. Despite collaborating with Grande on the comedy film “Focker-In-Law,” De Niro candidly admits he has yet to watch Grande’s performance in the hit movie “Wicked.”
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, De Niro confessed, “I didn’t see her movie, and I still am trying to see it, believe it or not, but I want to see it. I’m going to see it with my daughter. And she’s, of course, seen it.” This admission highlights that even a celebrated actor like De Niro can miss widely popular films.
“I had seen her in some stuff with my daughter, some sitcom thing she had done,” De Niro mentioned, acknowledging his prior knowledge of Grande’s work. While he could not recall the show’s name, it was likely one of her previous Nickelodeon series. His remarks point to his awareness of Grande’s career beyond music.
De Niro praised Grande’s acting abilities, applauding her performance in “Focker-In-Law,” where she plays Olivia, Henry Focker’s girlfriend. The film is set to release in theaters on November 25. “She was very professional,” De Niro stated, complimenting Grande on her quickness and involvement in the project. “She’s terrific and very quick and got it all. She was very much part of the whole process. I liked her. Nice kid.”
It’s noteworthy to see De Niro, a legendary actor, commend Grande for her acting talent. Although Grande is primarily recognized for her singing career, De Niro’s positive feedback attests to her versatile skills in the entertainment industry.
