A bald eagle was rescued near Big Bear and is believed to be Jackie, a familiar figure in a popular nest livestream. Friends of Big Bear Valley, the organization behind the cam, has noted evidence suggesting the rescued eagle is Jackie, citing public videos and photos.

The eagle was discovered on the ground near Dana Point Park in Fawnskin, next to Big Bear Lake. Observers recounted a confrontation with two younger eagles, where Jackie defended herself using her talons but was unable to fly away efficiently. The L.A. County Department of Parks and Recreation confirmed this via cell phone video, highlighting Jackie’s struggle to fend off other eagles.

Jackie’s absence from her nest in recent days accumulated concerns among fans, who have followed her life alongside Shadow, her longtime mate, since 2015 on the webcam. Jackie and Shadow have experienced both loss and success, raising eaglets and overcoming challenges 120 feet up a Jeffrey pine overlooking Big Bear Lake. Their recent eaglets, Sandy and Luna, flew for the first time late last month.

The bald eagle’s rescue was accomplished on Saturday by the L.A. County Parks and Recreation San Dimas Raptor Rescue team. The eagle has been relocated to a facility specialized in wildlife rehabilitation, assuring attentive care.
