Real Madrid has reached an agreement with Leipzig for the transfer of Ivorian international, Yan Diomande. The Spanish giant announced on Thursday that the 19-year-old forward will be with the club for the next seven seasons.

Diomande had an outstanding World Cup performance. Reports suggest that several Premier League clubs were interested in signing him, despite Leipzig’s earlier stance that he was not for sale. Côte d’Ivoire was eliminated by Norway in the Round of 32 during the tournament.

The sporting director of Leipzig, Marcel Schäfer, praised Diomande’s attributes, stating that his carefree attitude, eagerness to learn, and bravery stood out from day one. Schäfer noted that Diomande quickly established himself at the highest level, showcasing his speed, dribbling ability, and goal threat.

The club expressed pride in the international attention Diomande’s performances attracted. Reports also indicated that Paris Saint-Germain showed interest in acquiring the young forward.

It remains uncertain if Diomande will initially join Real Madrid’s B team. The first team has undergone a significant transformation following a disappointing end to the previous season. New signings under coach José Mourinho include playmaker Bernardo Silva, central defender Ibrahima Konaté, right-back Denzel Dumfries, and left-back Marc Cucurella.
