Rams Set for a Last Hurrah with Strategic Moves on and off the Field

The Los Angeles Rams are making significant moves as they prepare for a final push before transitioning to a new era. Recently, the Rams chose Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson with the 13th pick in April’s NFL Draft. Right after, they extended MVP Matthew Stafford’s contract for another year. The team surprised many by acquiring Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett.

This acquisition sparked discussions about Aaron Donald, a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, possibly considering a return. Andrew Whitworth, a former Rams player, recently spoke with Fox News Digital. When asked if he would return alongside Donald, Whitworth denied the possibility. He stated, “No, I don’t think so. If I was 35, I’d be out there right now. There’s no doubt about that. I’ve already shown that because I played till 40.” Whitworth continues to keep in touch with Donald about his plans.

I’ve stayed on AD. I shoot him a little text every now and then trying to get a feel. I would love to see it. It’d be super exciting,” Whitworth commented. “He’s going to do what’s best for him. I hope he gets some workouts in, and I’m hoping he gets the itch because there would be nothing more fun than watching that dude.

Whitworth praised Donald as one of the most outstanding players he has known. Nevertheless, he expressed concern for Donald’s safety should he decide to return. If Donald joins forces with Garrett, it would be thrilling to see two of the greatest players team up.

Whitworth’s enthusiasm for Garrett’s addition is evident. He stated, “I’ve already kind of caught up with him. He’s used my gym here that a lot of the guys train at, so it’s been great to kind of see him in the fold here and be around him a little bit. I’m excited for him.” He noted Garrett has started appreciating the unique environment the Rams offer.

Whitworth believes Garrett will thrive, becoming energized and eager to contribute to the team’s success. Whitworth said, “I think you’ll see an even more invigorated, excited, amped-up version of Myles Garrett when he gets in here and realizes how special this place is.”

Apart from football, Whitworth is excited about participating in the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe. Reflecting on the event, he shared, “I think I’m counting down the days every year. I think the second it ends, you get nervous about the next year.”

According to Whitworth, many athletes and celebrities experience nervousness during the tournament, despite their backgrounds in the public eye. He explained, “It’s hilarious. You got all these athletes, celebrities, everything else that have been on TV sets in front of thousands of people, everything else, but we joke every year, the group of us when we’re all sitting around talking, like the nerves, the nervous energy, kind of the little shakes you get in front of all those people, that crowd, to go out there and play well.”

Whitworth describes the tournament as a memorable occasion enhanced by fan engagement. He considers it an experience to look forward to each year.
