Public Figures Misidentified in Hot Mic Incident at Sacramento Kings Media Day

During the Sacramento Kings Media Day, an embarrassing hot mic moment revealed reporters’ voices, leading to widespread speculation about who was involved. This speculation resulted in the wrongful identification of individuals, such as NBC Sports Bay Area and California digital content producer Tristi Rodriguez. On Friday, Rodriguez spoke out on social media to clarify the situation.

“The past few days have been tough,” Rodriguez posted. “I got dragged into something that had nothing to do with me, and I watched my name and reputation be tarnished across the internet. To be very clear – that was not my voice at Kings Media Day.”

Fans mistakenly linked Rodriguez to the event, which involved reporters rating the attractiveness of players Ben Simmons and Zach LaVine. The audio captured two female voices and one male voice, sparking incorrect assumptions and subsequent harassment.

Rodriguez emphasized her desire to clear her name for her own peace of mind, rather than appease those who have attacked her online. “Thank you to those who know me and know my professionalism and immediately knew that wasn’t me. Your messages, support, and love have gone a long way over these extremely dark days,” she added.

Rodriguez is known for covering teams such as the Kings, Golden State Warriors, and the San Francisco 49ers.
