The Philadelphia Eagles will be missing crucial players for Sunday’s crucial NFC matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. Six players have been ruled out following their absence from Friday’s practice. These players include DeVonta Smith (hamstring), Dallas Goedert (knee), Hollywood Brown (ankle), Fred Johnson (knee), Zach Baun (concussion), and Marcus Epps (groin).
DeVonta Smith will miss his first game since 2024 after not practicing all week. Last week, he was on the injury report due to a hamstring concern but still managed to catch six of eight targets for 65 yards in the game against the Chicago Bears. With A.J. Brown no longer on the team, Smith has been integral to Philadelphia’s passing game. The former Heisman Trophy winner is the sole Eagles player with over ten receptions (19) and leads the team with 235 receiving yards.
Dallas Goedert, who ranks third with 81 yards, is the only Eagles player to have caught more than one touchdown this season. The tight end also missed Monday’s match after an early exit during a Week 2 victory over the Tennessee Titans. Meanwhile, Hollywood Brown will miss the chance to increase his role in the team. Despite taking two handoffs in Week 2, he has not recorded any catches for the Eagles yet. Dontayvion Wicks might see increased action, and the Eagles hope first-round pick Malaki Lemon, who has accumulated 33 yards over three games, will deliver a notable performance.
The Eagles’ defense will also have challenges without two key starters. Zach Baun, following two successive Pro Bowl seasons, has registered 25 tackles and led the team with three passes defended. He has not practiced recently due to concussion protocol. Marcus Epps suffers from a groin injury after playing 61% of the defensive snaps over three games. Potential replacements at safety include Michael Carter II or Kenny Moore II.
The Rams will also experience a significant absence as Aaron Donald has been ruled out with a back injury. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. ET.
