Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is poised for a critical season in his NFL career. At 29, Jackson is aware of the urgency. He shared with CBS Sports’ Evan Washburn, “Going into Year 9, it’s like, man, time is ticking. You’re only getting older. I’m not getting younger. I’m seeing a lot of different new faces into the league and different guys we’re surrounded with.” He emphasized, “Time is ticking, and the urgency is always high level. Once I get one [Super Bowl ring], it’s still going to be urgent to get another.”
For Jackson to overcome his playoff challenges, collaboration with his receivers is essential. He recently shared a moment of camaraderie with Zay Flowers and Ja’Kobi Lane. Jackson posted a video on Instagram showing them on a roller coaster at the Mall of America. As the ride dropped, the group vanished from the frame, but their laughter and screams remained audible.
The Ravens are currently in Minnesota for a joint practice with the Minnesota Vikings. They are preparing for a preseason matchup at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Saturday.
Jackson, a two-time NFL MVP and three-time All-Pro, had a challenging previous season due to injuries, limiting him to 13 games. The Ravens ended last season with an 8-9 record, missing the playoffs, which led to the dismissal of longtime head coach John Harbaugh. Jesse Minter, the former Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator, has taken over as head coach. Success is imperative for the new coach as they aim for instant results.
Jackson and the Ravens will start their pursuit of a Super Bowl against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, Sept. 13.
