Protesters Rally Against NYC Mayor Mamdani

On a Tuesday night, a large crowd assembled near Gracie Mansion in Manhattan’s Upper East Side to protest against Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Waving Israeli and American flags, the demonstrators voiced their concerns about his leadership.

Concerns Over Leadership

The rally was led by #EndJewHatred, a grassroots organization fighting antisemitism. Attendees included former “Big Time Rush” star James Maslow, artist Scott LoBaido, and Lawfare Project founder Brooke Goldstein. Pro-Israel activists also expressed their dissatisfaction.

Protesters chanted slogans such as “remove Mamdani” and “USA, USA.” They sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” in between speeches. Demonstrators criticized Mamdani for not protecting the Jewish community and overlooking antisemitism.

Statements from the Rally

Rabbi Yaakov Menken, of the Coalition for Jewish Values, stated that Mamdani symbolizes modern antisemitism. Menken argued that Mamdani failed to define antisemitism, making it challenging to combat.

Several speakers emphasized that they were not solely opposing antisemitism but defending American values like civil rights and equal protection under the law.

Speakers Share Personal Stories

Abraham Hamra, a Syrian Jew who fled his country, expressed concern about Mamdani posing a threat to all Americans. He urged New Yorkers and Americans to oppose radical Islam and socialism.

Anila Ali, set to lead the first Muslim group in New York City’s annual Israel Day Parade, accused Mamdani of using Islam to create division among religious communities.

Future of New York City

Some protesters were worried about public safety and antisemitism in the city. They criticized Mamdani for his response to symbols like swastikas and Hezbollah flags, highlighting hesitancy in condemning antisemitism.

The rally captured the concerns of those unhappy with Mayor Mamdani’s leadership, emphasizing issues of public safety and the future direction of the city.
