Presley Gerber Passes Away at 27, Highlighting Mental Health and Addiction Struggles

Presley Gerber, known as the son of renowned model Cindy Crawford, has passed away at 27. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed his death, which occurred on Sunday at a rehabilitation facility. The specific cause of death remains under investigation.

In recent times, Gerber was candid about his battles with mental health and substance abuse. In March, he shared a reflective post on Instagram indicating a turning point in his journey. He mentioned, “Pre Ibogaine Flood Dose – quiet moment before everything changed.” This reflected his ongoing struggle and hope for recovery, stating, “I faced what I had been running from, and somewhere in all of it, I started finding my way back to myself. We shall see… Praying it’s the last time I have to come back.” His post included hashtags referencing mental health and the healing process.

Ibogaine, a substance derived from the West African shrub iboga, played a role in Gerber’s efforts to battle addiction. Known for its use in addiction treatment, ibogaine can act as a mild stimulant when taken in small doses. In larger amounts, it induces a profound psychedelic experience, marked by hallucinations. Research suggests that ibogaine can be therapeutic, particularly for conditions like Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and substance use dependency. It has been shown to help with withdrawal symptoms and reduce cravings.

Despite its potential benefits, ibogaine is still a Schedule I substance in the United States under the Controlled Substances Act. It became popular in the U.S. and Europe during the 1980s but remains tightly regulated.

This story continues to develop, and further updates are expected.
