Former RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel discussed the possibility of Democrats supporting a third impeachment of President Donald Trump. She addressed the political implications and the impact Trump might have on shaping Republican strategy and key races leading up to the 2026 midterm elections on ‘Fox News Live.’
Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, announced plans to force a vote on impeaching Trump, citing the deaths of two U.S. citizens by federal immigration officers earlier in the year. Green introduced a privileged resolution on the House floor to formally seek Trump’s removal from office. This allows any legislator to compel the chamber to consider a bill within two legislative days, requiring a vote by the end of Wednesday.
House GOP leaders caution that this vote could create challenges for Democrats trying to reclaim the House and Senate in the upcoming midterms. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., has previously avoided discussing impeachment, focusing instead on issues like rising living costs. Jeffries and 127 House Democrats sided with Republicans to block an earlier impeachment attempt by Green in June 2025.
“To those who say, ‘Wait until next year’ and ‘Buckle up’ when the investigations start, I say: How many more lives must we lose, and how many more loved ones of victims have to plead for help before the self-evident evidence from videos and President Trump’s own words compel us to act?” wrote Green.
Green’s latest effort follows his primary loss to a younger Democrat advocating for generational change. After facing controversy during Trump’s congressional addresses, Green demanded immediate action against Trump, arguing the president is dangerous to democracy. The impeachment resolution accuses Trump of threatening democratic principles and cites the federal crackdown as a key issue.
Democratic leaders have anticipated increased investigations of Trump’s administration and associates if they succeed in the November midterms.
