Potential Movie About Princess Diana Causes Tension Between Royals

The speculation around Prince Harry’s reported plan to produce a movie about his late mother, Princess Diana, is reportedly worsening the tension with his brother, Prince William. Experts suggest that the project, if executed, might feel like a betrayal to William, who has been estranged from Harry for several years.

The Daily Mail reported that Harry intends to return to the UK to work on this movie ahead of the 30th anniversary of Diana’s death. Despite requests for comment, Archewell did not respond to inquiries from Fox News Digital.

According to Kinsey Schofield, host of YouTube’s “Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered,” the potential use of Diana’s tragic death by Harry and Meghan Markle for publicity could infuriate William. She pointed out that if Meghan is involved creatively in the project, this might exacerbate tension as Harry has drawn parallels between Meghan and Diana. William, having known Diana personally, might see such comparisons as insensitive.

If the documentary narrates Diana’s experiences to justify Harry and Meghan’s existing narrative, it might become too much for William.

Schofield further noted that a Diana Award fundraising dinner Prince Harry was expected to attend was supposedly canceled when William learned of Meghan’s planned attendance with several conditions attached. Using Diana’s legacy for personal publicity could anger William, according to Schofield.

Christopher Andersen, author of “Kate!”, recalled a past collaboration between William and Harry on a documentary about Diana in 2017. However, much has changed since then, and the two brothers are no longer in communication, much less working together on a project.

Andersen described concerns about the content of the movie, “Diana: The Unheard Truth,” a three-part documentary based on previously unreleased tapes. William views it as a potential posthumous invasion of privacy for their mother. These tapes could contain revelations that embarrass the royal family.

King Charles and Queen Camilla must be horrified at the prospect of old tabloid stories resurfacing.

Andersen explained that King Charles, Queen Camilla, and Kate Middleton are likely concerned about the impact of potentially explosive new information. Moreover, Prince George’s first week at Eton was overshadowed by media attention focused on this issue.

Helena Chard, a British broadcaster, noted a lack of trust between the royal family and the Sussexes. The Palace is interested in preventing further damage to the monarchy’s image, yet recent business efforts in California by Harry and Meghan have faltered.

There are rumors that Harry is collaborating with his mother’s brother, Charles Spencer, and other contacts to gather support for the movie. Netflix sees a film about Diana as highly profitable due to her enduring legacy and public interest.

Chard reported mixed feelings within the family, with concerns that past painful experiences from Diana’s life could be used to boost viewership. Meghan’s possible involvement as a narrator could amplify these worries and further strain the brothers’ relationship.

British royals expert, Hilary Fordwich, shared that Prince William is disturbed by these reports, even if they have not been verified. The narrative could undermine the privacy surrounding Diana’s legacy and provoke more tension within the family.
