Potential Impact of Harry and Meghan’s Return to the UK on Their Celebrity Status

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s move back to the United Kingdom might affect their prospects in Hollywood. Eric Schiffer, chair of Reputation Management Consultants, explained to Newsweek that this move could hinder their stardom in America. He remarked, ‘They got beaten during this process.’

Ongoing Projects in the US

Harry and Meghan have projects in progress with Netflix. These include adaptations of Carley Fortune’s novel ‘Meet Me at the Lake’ and Major Adam Jowett’s military memoir ‘No Way Out’. Their interest in continuing film and TV projects in America remains uncertain. This move could influence Hollywood’s perception of them.

Initial Steps in the US

Upon arriving in the US, they secured Netflix and Spotify deals and launched Archewell Foundation, now Archewell Philanthropies. However, Harry’s memoir, ‘Spare’, faced ridicule. Their Spotify deal ended after one podcast, and Meghan’s show ‘With Love, Meghan’ received poor reviews.

Challenges and Criticism

Schiffer commented on their challenges, stating, ‘Their challenges escalated with their retreat back to Britain.’ He noted their portrayal as adversaries and the mishandling of their public image. Their successes lay in advocating causes important to young people, but they often appeared focused on personal gains, leading to reduced public support.

Future Considerations

The couple has not confirmed their move as permanent, nor sold their California home. Meghan might consider returning to acting. A rumored role in Netflix’s ‘The Gentleman’ did not materialize. Schiffer suggested potential hurdles to reigniting a US career and hinted at exploring meaningful engagement opportunities.

Prince Harry’s Upcoming Charity Engagements

In September, Harry will focus on charity activities as he resumes public duties. Planned events include attending the Invictus Spirit Awards and launching an education initiative, INSPIRE. He will also participate in the WellChild Awards in London, continuing his patronage since 2007.
