Paget Brewster’s Apology Following Criticism of Entertainment Reporter

Paget Brewster, a star from “Criminal Minds,” issued an apology after publicly criticizing an entertainment journalist. Brewster, known for her role on CBS’s “Criminal Minds” and its reboot “Criminal Minds: Evolution,” recently expressed disappointment with ScreenRant writer Shealyn Scott on the platform X, formally Twitter.

In her now-deleted post, Brewster criticized Scott’s article, suggesting the journalist consider a different career. According to Variety, Brewster mentioned, “You’re young. You don’t know that bad pics and bad reviews can lead to 350 people losing their jobs. Sell vintage. Work at a shelter. Do something better than what you do now. Because right now you suck.”

The criticism from Brewster followed an article by Scott that featured a photo of Brewster and commented on changes to the show, including a reduced episode count and a ratings change to TV-MA.

Criminal Minds: Evolution sometimes feels unrecognizable from the original series, but the biggest format change is finally catching up with Paramount+, Scott noted in her article.

Facing backlash from critics and social media users, Brewster apologized on Sunday. She wrote, “Hi guys, I was mean to Shealyn Scott last night and I profoundly regret it. Shame on me for insulting a human being for doing their job. I’m very sorry, Shealyn. And I’m sorry to those who follow me that you saw me behave like that. Turns out, last night, I sucked.” Brewster’s X bio encourages kindness among humans, reading, “I also love that we humans are all different but the same, too. Choose kindness.”

Scott responded, clarifying Brewster’s apology reached her privately as well. She remains enthusiastic, stating, “Criminal Minds is still one of my all-time favorite shows, and I’m very excited to continue covering s19 (and hopefully beyond!)”

The original “Criminal Minds” aired on CBS from 2005 to 2020, later revived on streaming platforms in 2022. The franchise currently stands in its 19th season.
