Oregon Ducks quarterback Dante Moore was injured during Saturday’s game against the USC Trojans. The incident occurred after Moore received a significant hit from linebacker Desman Stephens II.
Stephens struck Moore’s head as the quarterback attempted a slide in the second quarter. As a result, Stephens was ejected for targeting and later suspended for one game due to the severity of the hit.
Moore displayed a fencing response, indicating a serious head injury. After the game, medical staff diagnosed him with a concussion. Thankfully, MRI and CT scans revealed no additional injuries.
On the following Monday, Moore made his first public statement regarding the injury:
“To my team, the community, and to the World, thank you. These past 2 days have been difficult, but through all of your prayers, I have made progress. There’s times I question myself and the Lord and say Why now? but I quickly remember Jeremiah 29:11: ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’. I can only worry about today, and making sure I give today its full attention. I’ll be back soon. Go Ducks!”
In the meantime, backup quarterback Dylan Raiola stepped in to lead the Ducks. He performed well, accumulating 289 passing yards and two touchdowns, contributing to Oregon’s 41-27 win.
Oregon is set to face the UCLA Bruins in their next game on Saturday, Oct. 10.
