In the opening game of the 2026 college football season, the Oregon Ducks narrowly avoided defeat against the Boise State Broncos. Despite being heavy favorites, Oregon found themselves in a tight match that was tied at 27-27 during the fourth quarter.
The Ducks managed to pull ahead when wide receiver Dakorien Moore caught a 62-yard touchdown from quarterback Dante Moore. This crucial play helped Oregon secure a 34-27 victory, extending their home winning streak against nonconference teams to 39 games, the longest active streak in the nation.

Madsen, who completed the previous season with 2,334 yards and 18 touchdowns, showcased potential growth for the coming season. Boise State, new members of the reformed Pac-12 Conference, ended last season with a 9-5 record in the Mountain West.
Boise State took an early lead, with Madsen connecting with Cam Bates for a 13-yard touchdown following an 11-play drive. Oregon responded in the second quarter with Jordon Davison’s 1-yard touchdown dive.

Oregon then went ahead with Jeremiah McClellan’s 8-yard touchdown catch after Gage Hurych kicked a 26-yard field goal. The Broncos responded with a 7-yard touchdown pass from Madsen to Matt Wagner, tying the game by the end of the third quarter.
