The Miami Hurricanes, fresh from their national championship appearance, are capitalizing on their recent performance. The team has successfully landed transfer quarterback Darian Mensah and wide receiver Cooper Barkate from Duke, an ACC rival. Building on this foundation, they are assembling an impressive 2027 recruiting class.

An exciting development for Miami occurred on Friday. Five-star cornerback A’mir Sears, ranked as the No. 2 player in Florida and the No. 11 overall recruit nationally by 247Sports composite rankings, committed to the Hurricanes. Miami was the first to offer Sears a scholarship.

“They have coaches that actually recruit,” Sears told Rivals. “Many schools are not recruiting earnestly. They rely on letters and generic texts. Miami has a dedicated recruiting department.”

Sears’ commitment makes him the fifth five-star recruit for Miami, placing them just behind Texas A&M for the most five-star recruits in the 2027 cycle. Miami, Texas A&M, and Notre Dame are currently the only teams with four or more five-star commitments.

With Sears on board, the Hurricanes now have the No. 2 ranked recruiting class nationally, trailing only Texas A&M and overtaking Notre Dame. Other five-star recruits joining Miami include cornerback Donte Wright, quarterback Israel Abrams, wide receiver Nick Lennear, and edge-rusher Jaiden Bryant.

Sears was officially introduced to Miami’s campus in Coral Gables during a visit in March. He shared a positive recount of his experience with Rivals.

“Man, it was a vibe,” Sears expressed. “Played 3-on-3 basketball and dominated the court for nine games with Nick Lennear. Playing for The U excites me. I love Miami’s physical and gritty style. The coaching and recruiting staff show genuine support, which is fantastic.”
