A mother in Memphis finds herself facing a murder charge after an incident where she allegedly shot a man hiding beneath her daughter’s bed. According to the affidavit, Kendra Scott informed police, “I saw a dude under my kids’ bed, and I did what I had to do.”

The victim, Rodderius Morton, was found by officers in the front yard of Scott’s home with a gunshot wound to the back of his head. This occurred on Thursday. Scott, aged 36, is charged with first-degree murder after police indicated she shot Morton in the head.

“Who’s at my house?” Scott allegedly yelled as she knocked on the front door before finding Morton under the child’s bed, according to a juvenile witness.

Officers responded to a reported shooting at the 3000 block of Travis Road. A body with a gunshot wound was discovered in the front yard, as indicated by Google Maps records.

According to witness reports, Morton entered through the back door of the house after receiving an invitation. After an argument with Scott, he left without a weapon. Scott reportedly yelled at him to leave. The witness also heard a gunshot as Scott and Morton stood on the front porch.

There are documents stating Scott previously warned she would act if she found an intruder in her house. She faces charges of first-degree murder and the use of a firearm during a felony. Scott is held without bond, and her attorney has not responded to requests for comments.
