Lily Tang Williams Wins New Hampshire GOP Primary

Businesswoman Lily Tang Williams achieved a significant victory in the Republican primary for New Hampshire’s 2nd Congressional District. She outperformed three other GOP candidates who aimed to turn the district red. The district covers the western part of the state from north to south.

Tang Williams, a prominent entrepreneur and co-chair of the New Hampshire Asian American Coalition from Weare, excelled in fundraising, amassing nearly $1.2 million. In comparison, Victor Orlando, the second-place contender, raised $175,000.

As a Chinese immigrant and self-described survivor of communism, Tang Williams has positioned herself as an “open-minded” and “independent” individual. In an interview with WMUR, she highlighted her willingness to challenge President Donald Trump when necessary for her constituents.

Tang Williams addressed international issues such as the Iran conflict. She criticized oppressive regimes and expressed her hope for Trump to devise a plan for peace. Additionally, she condemned politicians for using their offices for personal gain.

Former Libertarian Party chair, Tang Williams faced two other candidates, Dan Nicholson and Michael Anthony Callis, who garnered minimal votes.

Williams and Orlando both presented centrist-right platforms in a predominantly Democratic state. New Hampshire, hosting only one other congressional district, remains largely blue. Nevertheless, in her 2024 bid, Tang Williams captured 47% of the vote.

The district is presently represented by Rep. Maggie Goodlander (D-N.H.).
