LSU head coach Lane Kiffin inspired his team during a decisive halftime speech as they dominated the Clemson Tigers with a victory score of 51-10 last weekend.
Video clips of Kiffin’s intense halftime comments went viral on social media. Although LSU was leading 31-3, the urgency in Kiffin’s voice suggested the team needed to keep pushing.
“Alright, guys, we started here like seven or eight months ago, or whatever it was, alright? And we asked you to work really hard, OK? And we asked you to come back to work again and again and again. Do you feel good about what happened?” Kiffin questioned his team.
In the video, Kiffin exclaimed, “Who gives a [expletive] about what happened? That’s what’s supposed to happen! Ain’t no [expletive] celebrations for that. They’re [expletive] soft! They work different! We’re [expletive] different, so you gotta show em again!”
Kiffin emphasized to his team that their dominance should be clear, regardless of Clemson’s strategies. “It doesn’t matter what plays they run,” he insisted. “You send them a [expletive] message about who the [expletive] is on their schedule!”
The coach demanded his players maintain their aggression. “You [expletive] take it out on them! The whole [expletive] world hates you!” he shouted, driving his team to continue their strong performance in the second half.
This came amidst scrutiny over LSU’s attempts to bring players onto their roster who had NFL contracts. LSU recruited tight end Dae’Quan Wright and defensive lineman Zxavian Harris, both of whom signed with NFL teams but were cut in the preseason. These players had previously played for Kiffin at Ole Miss but were not part of the roster for the Clemson game.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported on the controversial roster changes and discussed potential penalties for LSU and Kiffin. The SEC is involved in preventing these actions from continuing.
Looking ahead, LSU prepares to face Louisiana Tech on September 12. Fans are eager to see what Kiffin might tell his team if the game isn’t as smooth.
