Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus secured her place in the semifinals of the US Open after defeating Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic. The thrilling quarterfinal took place on day ten of the tournament at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York.
Sabalenka, aiming for a third consecutive US Open title, overcame a tough challenge from Noskova with scores of 7-6 (1), 3-6, 7-6 (10-7). The match concluded with Sabalenka serving an ace on a second serve, showcasing her powerful play to maintain her path to victory in Flushing Meadows for the sixth consecutive year.
With this win, Sabalenka holds onto her No. 1 ranking, setting her up to face either No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula or No. 26 seed Emma Navarro in the semifinals scheduled for Thursday.
Noskova, seeded No. 6, had earlier claimed her first major title at Wimbledon. She narrowly missed the opportunity to join Serena Williams, who in 2016 was the last woman to reach the semi-finals on New York’s hardcourts after winning on grass.
