Kyler Murray, the quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, has been cleared to return after being in the NFL concussion protocol. He will make his comeback this week in the game against Tampa Bay. Head coach Kevin O’Connell confirmed on Monday that Murray will resume his role in the starting lineup.
Murray’s absence followed an incident during his debut for Minnesota on September 13. He played only 11 snaps before a collision caused by Packers safety Javon Bullard’s lowered shoulder led to a concussion. This forced him out of the game early.
In Murray’s absence, Carson Wentz stepped in. Wentz not only helped the Vikings achieve a comeback victory over the Green Bay Packers, ending the game with 29 consecutive points for a 39-22 win, but also managed a victory against the Chicago Bears. In rainy conditions, Wentz complemented a strong defense and efficient running game, securing a 9-3 victory.
Over the two games, Wentz completed 23 of 39 pass attempts, accumulating 276 yards and three touchdowns. He experienced six sacks but did not commit any turnovers.
